Mnemonic for Causes of Pulseless Electrical Activity

Pulseless electrical activity is a very serious medical emergency with very high mortality unless its etiology can be quickly ascertained and corrected.

A super useful mnemonic to remember the different causes of pulseless electrical activity is:

  • MAD (triple H) CAT

If you are a fan of WWE (well, who isn’t ?) , Triple H, one of the biggest WWE stars, and his “mad cat” will help you remember the etiologic causes of Pulseless Electrical Activity.

Mnemonic

  • M: massive pulmonary embolism
